“We at Stone Mountain Pecan recommend ICA because of their continued commitment to quality and high-speed production with accurate unit weights.” - Chris Coker, Stone Mountain.
The project involved optimizing the packaging process at Stone Mountain Pecan. The main challenge was the factory's space constraints. By partnering with ICA, they studied an efficient layout for the equipment, ensuring optimal use of space.
With ICA’s innovative solutions (SP Series), the project delivered impressive results, including enhanced packaging speed, improved bag aesthetics, and seamless machine functionality. Specific benefits achieved included a 30% cost reduction by switching from pre-made bags, packaging speeds of 50 bags per minute, and the production of high-quality gusseted stand pouches.
Stone Mountain Pecan chose ICA for its ability to tackle difficult problems, the durability and precision of its equipment, and its focus on delivering high-quality, efficient production. This partnership resulted in a successful upgrade to its packaging operations, ensuring both cost efficiency and high-speed production with consistent unit weights.
Stone Mountain Pecan Company is a family-owned and operated pecan shelling and packing plant that began in 1971 at a small building in Stone Mountain, Georgia, but the roots of the family business go all the way back to the 1940's when "Big Daddy", Fred Coker pulled the back seat out of his old car and drove through the countryside looking for pecan trees growing wherever he could find them. He would then stop and buy those pecans. The family has always been in the pecan business ever since those early days when "Big Daddy" was just trying to feed his seven kids.
Operations then expanded to a granite store building in Stone Mountain and most recently to the current location in Monroe, GA. Stone Mountain Pecan has been keeping customers happy for decades. Customers appreciate buying high quality Georgia pecans at a reasonable price. In addition, Stone Mountain Pecan sells a wide variety of nuts, dried fruits, candy, and gift tins. Satisfying customers is top priority at Stone Mountain Pecan.
In the words of third generation pecan sheller and owner, Robert E. Coker,
“Anything worth doing is worth doing well.”
ICA’s equipment, combined with its commitment to quality packaging, enabled Stone Mountain Pecan to meet its operational goals. This reinforces the fact that both the packaging process and ICA’s innovative approach were key factors in the project’s success.
