Aromapack for multipack Bibanesi breadsticks, specially designed for fragile products.

“Aromapack machines manufactured by ICA, gave us total guarantees of the perfect sealing on the bag 100% recyclable, materials that are difficult to work with. Not least packages must be beautiful to look at, the added value in which we believe exasperatingly” - Armando Da Re

The project

Some years ago Da.Re S.p.A, the historical company that produces the famous breadsticks, wants to come out on the market with a fully recyclable paper pack, after about 1 year of studies and research to keep the organoleptic features and product crispness, ICA seemed to be the ideal supplier to let this happen. And it was.

The Story

In 1975, the Da Re family founded a small bakery in Bibano, a charming town in the province of Treviso. What began as a modest family business soon blossomed, with the opening of their first production plant. Despite this growth, they never sacrificed the craftsmanship that defined their artisanal breadsticks.

Giuseppe Da Re, after years of dedicated experimentation, introduced ‘Bibanesi’—chunky breadsticks that captured the authenticity and fragrance of handmade bread. These delightful snacks became so esteemed that, on May 8th, 2001, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry recognized Bibanesi as a traditional food product of national significance.

Though founder Giuseppe Da Re has passed away, his legacy lives on. His children—Nicola, Francesca, and Armando—continue to uphold the same values of quality, craftsmanship, and authenticity that have always defined the company.

Innovating within the traditional bakery snack market in Italy posed a significant challenge for Da.Re. They aimed to create a unique packaging design that would stand out. Their vision was a gable top bag containing six vertically aligned pillow pouches. The alignment of the pillow pouches had never been done before and was the real challenge of this project, but it would ensure reduced material waste and a more compact bag volume. Overcoming technical hurdles, ICA, their packaging partner, embarked on a rigorous and passionate development journey to meet these requirements.

The breakthrough came with the development of a new configuration for the Aromapack machine. This tailor-made packaging line, featuring a CSV300 as the feeding system, was designed specifically for Da Re, ensuring their distinctive needs were met.

“The awareness of working with a supplier that provided guarantees and closely collaborated with us to find the solutions we needed made all the difference” - Armando Da Re

Thanks to this innovative approach, Bibanesi breadsticks now boast a packaging design unparalleled in the Italian large-scale retail market (GDO). This unique project not only satisfied the customer’s needs but also reflected the shared commitment to beauty and quality.
